About Noire

Noire is a bi-weekly comic updated on Sundays and Wednesdays. Raphael does the words, Lana does the pictures. Lana does some of the words and Raphael isn't allowed to do any of the pictures, ever.

Noire doesn't have a plot or anything, strictly speaking. It has beautiful drawings of a variety of strange and wonderful characters, who you can read about on the cast page. And occasionally it features little stories which span a few strips.

Tell your friends about Noire! It's the next big thing, you know.

About Raphael and Lana

Lana the girl is an odd thing who spends most of her time reading and listening to music. She dances but only from the waist up (or I guess you could call it flailing) and she's a great singer but only in her shower. She enjoys watching foreign films (but also likes Australian cinema, go patriotism!) She loves the Japanese language and culture. Her bookshelf is littered with fantasy novels and various manga comics (in English AND Japanese).

Lana's a full time student and loves to doodle in the pages of her school books whenever she can. She also collects and paints (and is yet to play her first game of) Warhammer 40k miniatures. Her army of choice is Chaos. She's been drawing for almost seven years and is only just starting to draw anything worthwhile of showing the world. Lana's been in 3 art exhibitions and been published in two books (nothing special, just a student body-image book and some resource for young queer people).

Lana has a DeviantArt.

Lana's favourite movie is One Perfect Day.

Lana's favourite songs are Too Sexy by Right Said Fred and Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley. Tee hee.

Lana's favourite book is The Music of Razors by Cameron Rodgers.

Raphael is, but only sometimes. He is a learner in a learnitorium, but much prefers reading, writing, and listening to music at home. He is aware that he is possibly the worst singer and dancer in the world, and often uses this to horrify people into a palsy. He likes thinking he is a penguin, though the evidence of late seems to be stacked against him. Raphael is Russian and has a British accent. Nobody is sure how this happened. He speaks Russian and is learning French and Japanese (in the learnitorium, of course).

Raphael is a self-professed indie kid. He likes happy bouncy indie music, along with 80s post-punk, dark wonderful cabaret rock, symphonic metal from the depths of the soul, glorious 60s chords, movie soundtracks, noisy music he can drown in, embarassing 80s synth music, and modern alternative tunes. Really, he'll give everything a chance unless it's rap, hip-hop, or 'gangsta'.

Raphael wants the world to know that Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Firefly are the closest humanity has gotten to perfection in art. He won't like you very much if you disagree with him. He also likes everything British, like tea and Doctor Who. In his spare time, he writes fantasy, sci-fi, and strange scary tales which make people shiver uncomfortably.

Raphael has a website.

Raphael's favourite movie is Casablanca.

Raphael's favourite song is Switching Off by Elbow.

Raphael's favourite book is a trilogy, His Dark Materials, by Philip Pullman.
